PROJECT PROFILE
Rolling Mill Installation
Description
Problem: A wire mill planned to install a new 4 stand flattening mill alongside two existing mills. To make room for the new equipment, an office complex, wire EDM equipment, and potentially a building column needed to be moved. Material flow was critical to maximize the new flattening equipment output. PTS was asked to develop options and cost estimates to accommodate the new rolling mill installation.
Solution: PTS was able to perform the necessary field work to develop options for office modifications, equipment relocations, and material flow while avoiding a costly relocation of the building column. PTS then wrote specifications, executed bids, and managed the partial office demolition and EDM equipment relocation to prepare for installation of the new mill. The second phase of the project involved preparations for the new equipment installation.
Trenches for piping and wiring were laid out, equipment foundations were designed, and a new electric feed run to the area. Specifications were developed and bids sought for the civil work, electrical installation, equipment placement, piping and wiring of the new mill. The project was delivered on time and within budget to meet the customer’s requirements and expectations.
