PROJECT PROFILE

Waste Heat Recovery System

Description

Problem: A new 60,000 square foot food production facility was being built in the Canton/Akron, OH area and required a heating source.

Since the building was designed with the anticipation of receiving lead platinum certification, a traditional heating system would not suffice. It needed a Waste Heat Recovery System.

Solution: Project Technologies & Services’ approach was to provide owner representation and project management over the design and installation of the heating system. This approach ensured that the owner’s needs would be met and the project would be completed on time and within the allocated budget.

PTS provided owner support during the design phase of the project to ensure the customer was receiving a system that meet their overall needs and was also cost effective. The system design utilized exhaust heat from a baking process which transferred heat to process water. The process water was then circulated back through a heat exchanger which in turn heated glycol and was finally circulated through the HVAC system for heat.

PTS project managers provided oversight over pre-construction and construction phases of the project. This oversight led to a successful completion of the project on time, achieving platinum certification, while keeping the best interests of the owners as a top priority.
